Low Oak Box Stool with Lifting Top

A low box stool in oak, the plank top hinging up to a plain interior, the frieze cut with a scalloped apron and standing on four square chamfered legs. The oak has darkened to a deep figured brown and the top is worn smooth. Country joinery at its most direct: a seat, a box and nothing surplus to either.
