Only what you type yourself. If you use the enquiry form or the basket we keep your name, your email address, your telephone number if you give one, your message, and the reference codes of the pieces you are asking about.

Alongside each message we also keep a scrambled version of your IP address and the name of your browser. The scrambling only works one way: we cannot turn it back into an address. It is there to stop the form filling up with automated messages.

If you give your email address to the newsletter box it lands in the same place. There is no newsletter and no mailing list yet; we hold the address until there is.

So we can answer you. An enquiry is a message, never an order: you buy nothing on this site and you are never asked to pay.

We do not sell your details, we do not share them for advertising, and we do not use them to follow you around.

Two years after we last spoke, then we delete it. Ask us to remove it sooner and we will.

This site runs on Vercel and the data sits in a database at Supabase, inside the European Union. Email goes through Resend and through our own mailbox. Those companies handle it on our behalf and do not use it for themselves.

If you allow statistics, Google Analytics processes your visit. If you allow the map, or click it, Google processes that. Allow neither and nothing reaches Google at all.

Necessary, and not switchable: a cookie remembering the choice you make below, and one keeping a signed-in member of staff signed in. Without the first we would have to ask you again on every page.

Statistics, only with your yes: Google Analytics, so we can see which pieces are looked at and how people find the shop. Say no and nothing loads from Google at all, not even the script, because fetching that alone would send your IP address to Google.

Google map, only with your yes: the map on the contact page. Say no and it stays a button, and nothing reaches Google until the moment you click it.

Remembering what you looked at, only with your yes: which pages you saw, kept against your session and attached to your name if you write to us afterwards. Say no and none of that happens.

Separately we do count visits, but only as a number: how often a page was viewed and how many different people came that day. That happens on our own server, without a cookie, and today's figure cannot be joined to tomorrow's. That is why it needs no consent, and why it can never tell us who you are.

We use no advertising cookies and we sell nothing on to advertising networks.

You can ask what we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted. Write to info@yellow-hat.nl and we will sort it out.

If you are unhappy with how we handle it, you can complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
