Brass Fire Screen with Bevelled Mirror
A free-standing fire screen in polished brass, the arched tube frame holding a bevelled mirror plate and topped with a pierced scroll handle, standing on cast scrolled feet. The brass has mellowed to a soft unlacquered gold and the mirror has light silvering loss at the edges. Its whole purpose was to hide an empty grate, and it still does that beautifully.
